The basics: read Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander” series, which is currently eight full-length novels. Novel nine, “Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone”, is set to be released November 23, 2021. According to Diana’s website there are also plans for a tenth full length novel as well as a prequel (as of Spring 2021).

The bonuses: read some or all of the related full-length novels and novellas (including the “Lord John” series and novellas).

NOTE: while I highly recommend reading the full-length “Outlander” novels in chronological order and the bonus titles are interspersed here as they fit into the main series chronology, they can be read without the context of the full series, so don’t feel that you must read them between the full-length novels!
