This should be read by anyone who is silly enough to believe that war can ever be 'clean'.

This books was sort of chilling to read amidst all of the Capitol riots. It speaks to how brutal we are as a species and how easy it is to lead people into absolutely barbaric acts. It reminds me of a quote from the Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam: "People talk a lot about how well the military turns kids into killing machines. I always argue that it's just finishing school."

Overall the book alternates between fascinating accounts from various soldiers, and the psychology behind their motivations. The parts that showcase the science tend to ramble on too long but still its worth reading for this interested in exploring the "banality of evil".
