I enjoyed the first half of the book, snorted laughter several times, and was looking forward to enjoying the last part. Well, it didn't happen that way. The second half felt overly-complicated with too many things going on. I appreciated the Ohio setting.

If the author can continue the formula she used for the first half of the book, she will have a winner.

I received a complimentary copy of the novel from the publisher and NetGalley, and my review is being left freely.

Buckle up and enjoy the fantastic roller coaster ride that this book offers. From the beginning, this book created a speedy journey of events that kept me wondering, and I couldn't put the book down. I read it in two days only because I had to work and at 3 am I had to call it. If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers, this is for you.

The book opens on a crime scene, which is essential to memorize and sets the tone for the rest of the book. The overarching question of this book is not just who but why. We met Kendall, who is having a series of bad events back to back. Kendall loses her sponsorship for her Master's, her boyfriend is cheating on her with his ex, and to top it all off, she has nowhere to go as she used to live with him. From there, many events unfold, and the best part is that I promise you, you will not be able to guess who was behind each event; every time I thought I had it, I was proven wrong. I immensely enjoyed the speed at which the story moved, and even to the last chapter, more things were unveiled, some that I did not even think were an issue. This book is an easy five stars because if I could give it 10, I would. Bravo, Angela Henry. I just became your super fan.

Messed up, twisted and dark but also captivatingly brilliant. Some parts were a bit raise your eyebrows unbelievable but that didn’t get in the way of a page turning great plot. The sort of book that contains more family lies and secrets than the average soap opera over a decade but fabulous gossip and intrigue and more shocks than Jeremy Kyle. There are also some great contemporary nods to cyber crime and influencers and the hold of social media plus how our parents can seriously mess us up. A great read especially if you don’t take it too seriously.

Thank you Storm Publishing and Angela Henry for this read.

I thought the book started so strong and I binged this book in 2 sittings. It was fast paced, mysterious and had some great twists along the way.

Some of the dialogue I felt a little forced / over the top.

This book is perfect as a popcorn thriller for lovers that want a fast paced read that they won't be able to help themselves but the binge in 1 or 2 sittings!

At times the main character’s personality seemed to be at odds with the author’s description. She would be described as meek or mousy yet engaged in violent or aggressive behavior.

The second half of the book really picked up the pace but also resulted in some confusing reading trying to figure out which character’s perspective we were in.

I love a good twist, but this book had about 4 too many at the end.

This was a quick read, and full of dramatic twists. Everyone has secrets, and you never know who you can trust in this one. The beginning chapters had my full attention, but then I started to struggle as the story went on. There are multiple characters and storylines, which sometimes made things a little overwhelming and confusing. The ending was a little predictable, though I was surprised at a few creative twists!

Brutal
Not sure how this could be compared to anything JR writes. Not saying she’s a 5/5 star writer either but this was absolutely brutal to get through via audiobook. The writing is mediocre. Found this on hoopla, I’d never purchase this

Next time you think about participating in a scavenger hunt, maybe reconsider!

This book had so many twists and turns along the way. It kept me guessing what was next and what the connections were, I just had to keep reading! Let me tell you, the twists kept coming right to the very end, and I didn't pick any of them!

Angela Henry is absolutely amazing!! I read this book in one evening. While I thought it may have started slowly, the further I got the more I needed to get to the next page! Absolutely none of the explanations, right down to the last pages were what I was expecting. The relationships among the characters were built on expertly, the plot progressed perfectly and the resolutions were very satisfying. Definitely going to be in my 2024 top 10!
