We are never just one thing. We all have many titles and many labels, but far too often, we get trapped inside a single definition. The Teacher’s Pet, the Rule Follower, the Cheerleader, the Athlete, the Princess, the Basket Case, the Criminal … the Rock Star’s Girlfriend. Whether we wrote that definition or whether it was given to us, it somehow becomes our only identity. We get so lost in it that we forget about all the other pieces that make up who we are.
It was a cute read, but kind of frustrating at times. Great message though about just being yourself.

I LOVE OWEN!!! At some points, this was a little slow but the end made up for it. I really enjoyed this freaky Friday meets contemporary story! The character development between the beginning and the end is amazing. I am so happy that I got to meet Ellison, Owen and their friends in this book!

Erg vermakelijk maar wat heb ik me aan Ellie geïrriteerd, het plot was nul verrassend. Toch vloog ik er doorheen!

A Week of Mondays was a good book. But that's it. It wasn't amazing, it wasn't life changing, it was just okay. I liked 52 Reasons To Hate My Father more.
Ellison Sparks has a bad Monday. A very bad Monday.
She fails her History test.
Gets a ticket for running a red light.
Takes a horrible school photo.
Has an allergic reaction.
Witnesses a bird die.
Loses her school election.
Doesn't make the varsity softball team.
And finally her boyfriend of five months breaks up with her.
She wishes that she could have a do-over. And when she wakes up in the morning, she finds out her wish has come true. She has a chance to do everything right.

This is a perfect friends to lovers story! The length of the book really aides the build up of the romance between Ellie and Owen. I was skeptical about them coupling up for the first half of the book, but I was smitten at the idea of them for the second half of the book.
The book moves at an easy to read, quick pace. It’s funny and cliche and charming which makes it wonderful as long as you are expecting a cute teen love story.

I liked the idea of this book! It was like Groundhog’s Day but from a high school girl’s POV! Buuuuutttttt when it actually came to reading it, I struggled. I became annoyed by the main character constantly trying to win her boyfriend back when clearly it just was never meant to work out! Like get over him and move on! Clearly there’s a better guy here!
So I technically did not finish this book. But I did flip through and I saw what happens. Now I look ahead in books all the time, and usually it isn’t a deterrent for me. I will still ravenously read the rest of the book. But with this one I didn’t have any interest in reading it anymore. I tried to read a bit more. I would say I got 60-75 % through the book, then I put it down and never picked it back up again. It’s been a few months so I’m gonna call it quits and just shelve it. I didn’t care enough to finish.
Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood to read this type of book over the last 5 months, but I’m not gonna force myself to read it if I’m not enjoying it.

I FLEW threw this book. I picked it up, and suddenly it was 2 and a half hours later and I was finished. I probably should've been studying but I was so curious about this. I love love LOVE my contemporary YA, and I'm very particular with the category. This was so different from the stressful "Before I Fall" by the lovely Lauren Oliver. If you've read "How to be popular" by Meg Cabot, the main character felt so similar to Steph Landry!
Before you read any further, this book is about Ellison Sparks who
i) is a straight A, overachieving student who is in love with her boyfriend of 5 months
ii) is having the worst monday of her life, because of
1. Her family is in an awful mood
2. she wakes up late, and is consequently late picking up her best friend, and runs a red light
3. delivers a horrible speech because of an allergy and her school picture is awful
4. bombs her softball try outs
5. her boyfriend breaks up with her at the carnival
iii) wakes up every day, relives the awful Monday and has to find a way to break the chain
It was very reminiscent of Before I Fall, without any of the crippling drama. This is a way more laid-back, less stress inducing version of it. I laughed a lot while reading and found myself rolling my eyes at some of her issues that are very real when you're her age.
Ellie could definitely be annoying at times, but it was so relatable because she reminded me of how I was as a teenager. She was so funny, honest, over dramatic and her thought process was SO similar to mine. Looking back at things now, they weren't as serious as I thought they were. I loved her friendship with Owen, and I wanted more of him. He loves her 60s playlists, her hippo, crime shows, and straight up told her when she was being stupid. He didn't exist as a side character to help her shine brighter, but he existed to help her realize what she needed to become to break the cycle which sounds way more boring than the conclusion actually is.
It was a refreshing and quick read. 400+ Pages?! It went by quickly. The author really picked up the essence of a panicked teenage girl and it was so dangerously addicting. I picked it up and I was hooked from the first chapter. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking to laugh or swoon.
I am just so damn satisfied right now.
