If you absolutely can't get enough of reading fae books, there's a pretty good chance you're going to enjoy Fae's Deception. It's fun, sassy, and LGBT friendly.
Team Lochlan all the way.

This book has a lot going for it and I am on the second book. I think that the biggest problem for me was that this book felt like it was two separate stories. The first half could have been an entire book if it had been expanded on. The whole relationship between Myles and Brea felt weird to me. Maybe it is because the inciting incident that leads to Brea entering the fae world was quickly done, he felt like collateral damage. The world in which Brea was introduced to felt so superficial and fake that it made me feel on edge.
Griff seemed like a good guy but shortly after meeting him he threw me off especially with Brea's Aunt Regan. They both gave me the creeps. I think that there is quite a lot of information in this book and yet none at all. The world of Fargelsi is described in detail but Brea doesn't get to experience the people so much. I loved Neeve, she was a wonderful character and finding out at the end of this book that her wife, Moira, died made me sad. Brea's travel to Eldur kept me on edge reading about her journey with finding scary creatures and eventually meeting up with Loch. I love his character very much.
Brea meeting her mothers, Faolan and Tierney, who are queens of Eldur is perfectly written. One mother is caring and nuturing while the other is distant. Alona, their daughter, is captured and we find out that Brea is Faolan's real daughter and was swapped at birth with Alona. Brea feels left out and out of place in Eldur, rightfully so, and works to build a relationship with two people she should call her parents.
Overall, a good book to start out in. Not a lot of spice but definitely a lot of tension. Also, Finn is definitely one of my favorite characters. He is hilarious.

This story was fun. I loved the pop culture references that reminded me that while I’m reading from the POV of a teenager, it is a teenager written by an adult (s) who clearly understands and values youth. The main character is written so authentically, that you can care for her just as easily as you can be annoyed by her. The audio reader is also does a fantastic job of showcasing all the moods of the protagonist.

This book was very hard for me to get into. In fact, I put it down several times - or rather I shelved it on my Kindle DNF shelf more than once and opted for other fantasy fae reads before going back time and time again. So, in short, this book to way to long to finish due to it just not capturing my attention.
I think it is the epitome of fanfiction spin offs of other well-known fantasy fiction. I do think the author has potential to do something great, however, this book fell a bit flat.
I am hoping that Craven gives it another go.

Good concept, but very sloppy.
So, the beginning was.. kind of interesting.. she thought she was crazy. Had even spent time in an institution and was going back to school. Which is a decent start, but her headspace was so confusing and hard to grasp. The beginning of the book should suck you into that world. Make you wanna be there, this didn’t.
Then at the first palace, everything seems great. There is literally no hint that the palace is an evil place. It has to be mentioned multiple times.
And then the ending was.. kind of horrible.. she finds out who she really is, but also the other queens daughter was kidnapped... and it ends on a happy note.. it should have ended with Brea wanting to help fight to bring the daughter back home.
She is not a strong character at all and I feel that is a big reason why this book isn’t the greatest.

Book one is an engaging paranormal teen/ new adult, coming of age, adventure and mystery read. Some situations or ideas presented in this story may make some readers uncomfortable (politics and manipulation, violence, abuses, drug use, F/F, M/M, f/m/bi ). I look forward to finding the answers to the following questions along with Brea and the rest of the characters.
Might I also add the fact that this is not the paranormal fantasy, I was expecting, instead it is a book about mental health.
