My favourite of the Mole books. Makes me laugh and cry, and captures the early 1990s so well. Makes me laugh as much now as it did in the 90s when I was a kid, but there's something new with every revisit. Townsend's wit is razor sharp - effortless satire.

The secret diary with its teenager coming to terms with being a teenager worked (at least from what I remember of it from some time ago), but this is just pages about an utterly unlikeable and delusional arse, with predictable and dull repetition of his 'situations' that just left me wanting the book to be finished.

Made it, with great effort, to 44%. Couldn't go any farther, and I'm now done with the series.

Adrian Mole is basically a proto Allan Partridge and maybe that’s why I’m absolutely obsessed with these books

To my shame I didn't realise Sue Townsend had written more than the first two Adrian Mole books until about six months ago. I've loved diving back into the world of Adrian Mole. While this one isn't quite as funny or identifiable for me as the teenage diaries, it's still wonderful and a great pleasure to read about Adrian's continuing disasters.

This is the fourth book in the series (if you can honestly call The True Con fessions a book - it has one merit in that it fills the eight year gap between Growing Pains and this one). Loved the fact that his Mum is seeing her lodger, and that most of the old characters are still knocking about, but most of all, once this was finished, I am actually really looking forward to the next installment!
