I really wanted to like this book given my love for the TV show. But this novel just does not compare. It's essentially the same storyline as the show but lacked the charm and excitement if the TV series.

Basically a very sped up version of show, but in a different time period. Not gonna lie, didn’t love it. Not great writing and things all happened so fast since it was a short book reviewing multiple seasons of a show. Also took me FOREVER to actually finish the book.

This book is super cute if you love Jane the Virgin and want to read the story in super speed again in a 1900s setting. If you have not watched JTV you'll probably think the story and characters are a bit flat.

I gave this book a 3/5 ⭐️. This book reminded me of the show ‘Jane the Virgin’ , but the book was wild. I was so disappointed with the main character in this book & it wasn’t realistic how it ended. It was a short, quick read, but the story felt rushed and I was surprised about what happened in this book with their relationship!

I was super excited when I found out this was a real book!
It's a fun read for anyone who is a fan of the show and I think it's a pretty decent Romance novel in general. My only criticism is the "narrator" bits dotted throughout. Obviously the narrator in the show is one of the funniest and smartest aspects, but in the book the parts just seem unnecessary interruptions. Luckily, they are separate paragraphs and in italic so I just started skipping them.
The story works really well in the context of a book and the historical twist is quite funny at times...like when Josephine goes with her friends to hear a reading of Jane Austen. The names are fun to read if you've watched the show.
I was always a fan of Jane and Rafael so obviously this book doesn't have me jumping for joy, but the ending is sweet and the acknowledgement at the end will bring a tear to any fan's eye.

A perfectly adequate read, fans of Jane the Virgin will appreciate the tie in to our long suffering Jane’s long standing dream to be a writer having her first work in physical form. But the book lacks the charm and grace that makes the show such an undeniable hit. The characters read hollow comparisons to their TV counterparts, and the story reads even more fantastical and ridiculous than a telenovela.
