This was truly not very well-written, well-paced, nor well-established, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend this to any fans of both reading and Jane the Virgin, but I think that without my love for the show, I would not have enjoyed this.
There were definitely multiple historical inaccuracies for a book set in the year 1900, and the characterisation and the pacing and the explanations of things were quite messy. While again, I enjoyed the drama of this book, I think this story was told far far better in the first season Jane the Virgin and this in no way lessens my adoration for the show.
I would 100% still read any other book published as a 'Jane Villanueva' novel, but this wasn't that great just as a book, hence the average rating.
I had fun though!

Not a great work of literature, but for what it was, it was a very enjoyable read. I loved getting to spend more time in the Jane universe.

I wanted to love this so hard. I LOVE Jane the Virgin and thought timing the "real" release of Jane's novel with the fictional release of Jane's novel was borderline genius - I even pre-ordered it. Although I still think it's borderline genius, I'm super disappointed in the book itself. It's essentially the entire storyline of Jane the Virgin (down to seemingly random italicized narrative that isn't really explained). I occasionally read romance novels, so it's not the genre that disappointed me - it's the style. It is juvenile and almost lazy. Arguably, the disappointment is my fault because I was so excited for this, but I still wouldn't recommend it, even to extreme fans of the show.

The only good thing about this was it reminded me how much I enjoyed the show.

I got this book because I'm a fan of the show, Jane The Virgin so I thought that picking it up would only be natural. I was right.
I liked the book, it describes things in great deal and makes you feel really in the moment, tho some may find it cheesy - like the cover

I was so excited for this book and I couldn’t even finish it. I expected the charm and wit of the writing on the show. This felt like an underbaked, rushed cash grab.
A better book would have draw on themes in the show to give us a new story. This one just rehashed the plot points of the series, making Jane seem unable to write creatively. It definitely felt like it was plotted by committee.

There are books you read because you’re after a well written story, and there are others you read because you’re hungry for something familiar and comforting. This is definitely the latter.
As a romance novel, Snow Falling is not good. The writing is a bit stilted, the romance is lackluster, and the historical inaccuracies are stark. But as a Jane the Virgin devotee, it was fun to pick up Jane’s novel and dive back into that world for a day. It’s a shame it wasn’t a better book, but as a total marketing plot it wasn’t a total waste of my library resources.
