Read this book just to get Child's election year political propaganda at the end. Reacher is a cartoonish character to begin with but the stories are usually somewhat entertaining. Nothing To Lose cost me a few hours of my life I'll never get back. I lose.

Least favorite of the series so far. I still didn't completely understand everything when I finished. I listened on audio and even replayed the last hour to make sure I didn't miss anything that would have explained things better.

Jack Reacher walks the road from Hope to Despair and is treated poorly. So he decides to stay around after being thrown out and discovers there's a lot more going on then it first appeared.

I liked this, but it's a little ridiculous at times.

The ultimate goal of the bad guys is... a bit of a leap in a way. And the fact that there are two factions in a town that don't seem to know that they both exist is a little strange.

But there are still some really great sequences in this. There's the usual "Reacher fights a room full of dudes" sequence, and those are always fun to listen to.

I'm really looking forward to closing out the other Reacher books, they're all very well written and the views that are argued in them are well thought out. It's not just a straw man argument, Reacher often states both sides of the arguments and says why he's on one side or the other. There's an argument like that in this one and it gets a little heavy handed when both sides are being stated, but that's to be expected in these books.

Reacher finds himself between two desolate towns—one of them harboring secrets that put him in serious danger. This one has a darker, almost dystopian feel, with a slow-burn investigation that eventually leads to explosive action. While it’s not as tightly plotted as others in the series, the eerie atmosphere and Reacher’s unwavering sense of justice make it compelling.
