This started out well but frankly, the plot needed more tension and push-pull. There was an excess of inner monologues and submission.

Ally’s world and well planned future collapses when she walks in on her fiancé, who she has worked hard financially supporting, with another woman a month before their wedding. When she finally has had enough of her billionaire bastard boss who won’t give her the vacation she needs to decompress and figure things out, she tells him off, and opens up a whole new can of worms. Travis has been lusting after Ally since he hired her four years ago, but kept his distance because he believed she was in a happy relationship. When he finds out that wasn’t the case, and she’s now free, he’ll stop at nothing to make her his. Ally has been through a lot in her past, including a gaslighting ex, and an alcoholic mother, so he needs to do whatever he can to make her feel worthy. As Travis’ bastard tendencies ebb with Ally, she slowly starts to see who he really is, and fall for him hook line and sinker. This is a very steamy love story that takes a page out of the “sleeping with your assistant” trope and breathes some new life into it. Their banter and playfulness combined with the passion are a fantastic mix, even when they’re arguing with each other. I very much enjoyed going on the journey as these two found each other.

Oh my goodness!! This is Travis’s story and it definitely did not disappoint!! He is the dark brooding boss whom fires his assistant everyday! However he doesn’t mean it but Ally doesn’t take it seriously and enjoys pissing him off because fighting with him is better than dealing with the issues in her own life. Travis keeps himself busy with work focusing on his company and trying to block out the desire he feels towards his assistant but she’s officially off limits because she’s engaged to another man. Things along the way change and Ally is able to get tiny glimpses of another side of Travis one that he keeps buried and hidden away for his own sake and sanity.

Absolutely loved this book loved seeing how and what makes Travis tick. Loved his protective, alpha side, his caring side towards family and friends and his driven side to succeed in everything he does. Overall the book is captivating and compelling causes the reader to dive into this world and wanting more.

Billionaire Travis Harrison is surly, straight to the point, and a thorn in his secretaries side. Over four very long years with her boss, Ally Caldwell has been fired more times to count but she always shrugs it off. She does her job, doesn't take his flack and then heads to her second job to help build her future with her fiancee. She never saw it coming, her so called fiancee who let her do all the work was a cheat and now that they have split, Ally can only take so much from her boss and lets him have it.

Travis didn't realize that Ally's life had imploded, but once he does he sees an opening. He has wanted Ally underneath him for four long years and now she is seeing the attentive, compassionate, and straight to the point side of him. While she is not sure she wants to cross the boss/employee side, Travis is hell bent to have her he just never expected to fall in love along the way.

Very entertaining. The chemistry is off the charts and Travis has a very demanding tone to him that Ally rebuffs causing Travis to push harder. Travis is also very oblivious to boundaries where Ally is concerned, he sees it as taking care of her, she sees it as overstepping. Smiled throughout the story.

I liked A LOT. Travis hits all my Male MC buttons, and I really liked Ally a lot. I'm glad they got their HEA.

hmm a good read but I already forgot what it was about. didn't make an impression.

I have to confess I love Travis, he is so dark and brooding.
He really met his match in Ally!
I loved the different issues addressed in this book, and felt they were done well.
I laughed alot in this audio!
I was great to hear about why Travis did some of the things he did, and what unique skills he has.

Elizabeth Powers does a great job on the audio as always, and makes for an easy listening experience.
