Though quite unlikable, Frieda has the most loyal friends. A better entry into the series than book #4; interested to see what's next.

When a bloated corpse is found floating in the River Thames the police can at least be sure that identifying the victim will be easy. Around the dead man’s wrist is a hospital band. On it are the words ‘Dr F. Klein’. But Frieda is alive and, after evidence linking her to the murder is discovered, she becomes the prime suspect. Unable to convince the police of her innocence, Frieda is forced to make a bold decision in order to piece together the terrible truth before it’s too late, either for her or for those she loves.

This serie keeps getting stronger with every book. The plots, settings and characters are a perfect match. Nicci French created an I-wish-I-was-like-her heroine. Even on the run, she manages to help a friend. If these books turn into a TV serie, the actress who gets to play Frieda Klein is going to be one lucky girl. This character has so much layers of emotions and unpredictable behaviour. Friday on My Mind has a strong plot with many surprise twists. First shock on page 19: the dead man was Sandy, her ex-boyfriend. I did NOT see that coming. Are you kidding me? How cruel can authors be? This story had me on the edge from the moment Frieda runs away and the last sentence gave me goosebumps. I’m soooo ready for Saturday.

ok, frieda's stubborn ways are starting to annoy me a little bit. there's no way she'd see zero repercussions from fleeing from the police??? poor sandy.

nothing much happens very very slowly. i didn't find Frieda Klein a particularly compelling character. when i began this book i thought i had hit upon a good series, one that i could sink my teeth into. that's not gonna happen.

Opzich wel een goede Who done it. Pas in de laatse 30 pagina's wordt duidelijk wie het gedaan had maar het einde heeft mij niet echt voldoening gegeven.

Just as as in the previous Frieda Klein mystery, this one focuses on Frieda again and her complex relationships. The murder at the beginning sends Frieda on a mission to understand the last few weeks of her ex-lovers life all while she's running from the police who believe she's the one who killed him.

Less a murder mystery and more just a life mystery, Frieda is confronted with the negative choices Sandy made after she left him. In trying to understand who would want Sandy dead, Frieda uncovers that Sandy was afraid for her, that someone wanted her dead. If only she had read just one of the emails he sent or listened to one of the voicemails. But no, Frieda, in her stubborn, selfish way, she removed him from her life. And now he's dead.

One plot point that I just couldn't suspend belief over was the fact that she went and started babysitting her best friends child. Really, the cops wouldn't run across her at least one time or keep the friends house under supervision? Just seemed strange that she could come and go from her best friends house without discovery while the police found her "safe" house.

I hope the next few in series go back to investigating murders that don't have a personal aspect. I only really stayed with this one as I wanted to find out who the killer was. But once again felt Frieda's selfishness and narcissism placed her friends in danger, not only with the killer but with the police as well.
