This was a really cute story, delightfully illustrated, and I think that it may truly inspire kids to write and share their own stories.
My Favorite Picture:
Ralph spending the afternoon with the inchworm doing nothing together.

All my elementary teacher-friends will want this book about Ralph's struggle to find something to write about and how he finally figures out some ways to get those stories flowing.

What a charming book. It's the perfect mix of humorous and endearing. Both my boys (3 and 6) loved it. I did too!

Cute, and with a nice message. I like the comic-style pictures a lot.

Very cute with an encouraging message; Ralph's struggle with creative writing serves to show that stories exist all around us every day. The perfectly complimentary illustrations are delightful, and the inclusion of Ralph's numerous stories covering a vast array of topics at the end are a special treat. This book made my son laugh so much that he got the hiccups, which is a lofty achievement.

Ralph is an absolute charmer, and the illustrations are the perfect accompaniment to the story of this reluctant writer. An ideal read aloud to accompany an introduction to creative writing or journal-keeping. There are a host of perfect little touches in the pictures--check out the kids' drawings of famous storybook characters on the walls of the classroom, as well as the names of Ralph's stories at the end of the book, after he has gained confidence on his storytelling abilities.

This is really a fun book about the struggles to write from the perspective of a little boy. I can think of so many kids who would relate to Ralph.

I wish I were an elementary school teacher just so that I could read this book to my class to get them interested in writing (then I'd follow it up with [b:Rufus the Writer|23395640|Rufus the Writer|Elizabeth Bram|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1419183178s/23395640.jpg|42952517]).
"Stories are everywhere," says Ralph's teacher. And it's true. Every day, kids have stories to tell of what happened to them. But Ralph can't seem to think of anything. It's when another kid starts writing stories about things that happen to Ralph that he realizes that his life is full of stories and is able to write one of his own.
This is another children's picture book that I'm going to have to own. It's brilliant and inspiring ... even for adults with writer's block I think.
