Dark Angel:
Okay this one was probably my favorite story of all the volumes so far. I thought Gillian had a cool background that while not entirely consistent, explained or expanded on, was hinted at in the very beginning. I even liked Angel even though he was super creepy. I liked his messing with Gillian, which probably makes me a bad person. But it was creepy and twisted and fun. I enjoyed discovering what Gillian was with her. This one was the best so far.

The Chosen:
Well, I was really hoping there would be one of these short stories about the slayers in this world. And this one was the one. It was good. I liked Rashel. I liked the whole this can never be part between her and Quinn. I like that she got Quinn to literally change his life in the end. It was decent. This one had a lot of twists and turns in it that were unexpected. I still wish there were more backstory. I doubt Timmy will ever be okay after what happened to him.

Soulmate:
Well, I think I enjoyed this one too. It seemed to be the most well thought out of all the stories and we got to see all the other characters from the previous books in it. I suspect they'll all be in the rest too since the apocalypse is coming. I was happy to see them anyway. I liked the story of Hannah and Tierny. Very cool backstory. Like I said this was the most well thought out, thorough story of the whole lot so far. I hope the rest are as thorough as this one if not more so!

Overview:
While they're getting better and better as they go, I still feel like these stories are too short and that things happen too quickly with little explanation as to why. It's also hard to get behind a character that you first of all know so little about and second of all makes these huge inconsistent decisions that completely defy what little characterization or backstory the author has already set. They're nice, quick little reads but not something I'll save and read again and again like I do with other book series.

The middle story is worth getting the book from a library, I loved it.

The first one was pretty boring and by the third one (the sixth story in the series) I was so bored of the exact same plot where a Night Person instantly falls in love with a human, they "fall into each other's arms", try to fight being in love, and then end up together and no longer hate anyone because the world is full of love. She could at least try to mix it up and have a nonhuman fall in love with a nonhuman! And why can't the main character ever end up with a Werewolf?!

I have to say this was my favorite out of the first three 'Night World' series (since I haven't gotten to the 4th!) and it definitely had the most interesting stories. They're great. I really liked them! Quite exciting ones in this!

Dark Angel
⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Gillian almost drowns, she is saved by her guardian angel. Angel introduces her to a world she never imagined existed, with promises to fulfil her every want and desire. But when Angel begins making strange and sinister requests, Gillian must question his true identity and motives.

To be honest, I don’t have too much of an opinion on this story. It’s okay, and I like the idea of a guardian angel who may not be quite so angelic. But I tend to find Gillian rather annoying, and her story of unpopular girl in love with popular guy with popular girlfriend is VERY overdone.

The Chosen
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After witnessing her mother’s brutal murder at the hands of a vampire, Rashel has dedicated her life to ridding the world of the monsters, but when she finds herself swept into the Night World slave trade, she meets Quinn, a vampire that she can’t bring herself to kill.

This is definitely high up on my Night World favourites. I love a good enemies to lovers, and Rashel is very different to the other Night World lead characters in the sense that she’s extremely independent and the furthest thing from a damsel that you can get.

Soulmate
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Hannah begins receiving notes warning her that she is in danger, it’s safe to say that Hannah is freaked out. And what makes it worse is the fact that they appear to be written in her own handwriting… In the midst of trying to decipher these notes, she ends up thrown into the Night World.

I really enjoyed Night World story, the reincarnation aspect gave it a unique factor in comparison to the previous books. Hannah and Thierry are definitely not my favourite couple or characters, but they are definitely not my least favourite. I think this story also had one of the better villains in the whole series.

So I think my favorite story out of the entire book was "The Chosen" It seemed to have fit the Night World scene a whole lot better than the other two. "Dark Angel", it was good and I liked it, but it still kind of lacked what I got from the first Night World book on the whole Night World aspect of things. "The Chosen" was more involved with the Night World people I think that's why I liked it the best, and "Soulmates" it seemed a little cliche to me. The whole Soulmates, Old souls, destined to be together, but some unknown force is keeping them apart bit. But what really got me about "Soulmates" is all through that she decides to remain human.... all those years of him thinking it was his fault when really it wasn't, and she couldn't even give him forever with her, instead she wants to remain human get old and die, and start it all over again and again. To me I think that's a bit selfish, after over a thousands centuries of torment, and she can give him her humanity and become a vampire to live out forever with him in just one life. UGH! Young Women I swear sometimes. I also like how in each story you see a bit of old characters which kind of tie the entire series together. So I'm down to the last book in this series, wonder what's in store for me in that one?
