I've been (re-) reading the Bosch series in order, and so far the books are compelling and fast paced. This one felt like a turtle was running through molasses. It was way too wordy, with repeated details about Bosch's smoking habits and food choices, not to mention a ridiculous storyline that turned out to be a red herring. Way too many non-relevant details throughout, and an ending that was not really surprising. The previous novel in the Bosch Universe, The Poet, was a far better read and left me wanting more. Trunk Music left me wishing I had the time spent on it back.

I liked this one but not as much of some of the other Harry Bosch novels. It was a little more predictable, I think.

Blast from the past. The pages just turned themselves one after the other. Connelly uses his crime beat reporting experience deftly in making unbelievable and impossible things seem believable. Another fun book to read in the series.

An interesting read but a disappointing ending - 3*
I'm a little disappointed with the ending of Trunk Music. I just feel that with a strong plot and strong characters, the ending wasn't on par with the rest of the story.
I will still keep reading this series because Harry Bosch is such an interesting character.

I enjoy reading almost anything my Michael Connelly but this has to be my favorite in the Bosch series thus far. There were moments for me of true suspense where I had no idea what direction that story wound turn. I also high enjoyed the ending. I am now more than ever interested in seeing where Harry is going and what will happen to him next.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this one because I previously watched the television season inspired by it - but boy is it different. The twists came through till the last page, and left me truly shocked. Starts slow but finishes strong.

Fast moving american crime story with Harry Bosch as the lead character. Complicated plot but it is all concluded satisfactorily
