Harry Bosch reruns from enforced leave and his first case has the hallmarks of a mob killing - trunk music - where a body is found in the boot of a car. The body is found by a police officer on a seemingly routine traffic stop. Harry is partnered with Edgars and Kiz and the first thing they do is ask if the Organised Crime Unit of the LAPD wants to be involved. Strangely, they don't so Harry and his team start to investigate. Their investigations take Harry to Las Vegas where he meets his old flame Eleanor Wish. Soon Harry's team is pulled off the case and he is again being looked into by Internal Affairs. But Harry can't leave the case alone and they continue to work it behind the scenes. Things aren't adding up for the team and they soon realise that there must be corrupt police officers involved. Another really good story in this great series.

Great story. I did figure out the women's relationship well before the end.

A slow starter, but an enjoyable read. Harry Bosch is a fascinating and frustrating character, and I love it when he gets to stick it to jerks like the IAD cops. The one thing that annoys me is how slow his partner Edgar is - does Connelly dumb him down on purpose?
