I did enjoy this book. Back to my normal, Murder Mystery but I didn't work out the Murder until they did.
Small town in turmoil after a murder. You had everything secrets, longing, betrayal and rivalry. Then the super gets kidnapped and incompetence takes over.
Thankfully the here deals with both.. what a superb rollercoaster ride.

This book is a very classic style detective story. Although the detective was good at his job he was no super genius nor Sherlock. He was just thorough and did not let easy answers cloud his judgement. If you are looking for that kind of detective novel this may be for you.
I however enjoyed this, but it was not for me. There is like 15 books and I feel like I would have to read all 15 to get any sense of these characters. The twist was only ok and it did not wow me. I just thought it was a nice time but I won’t remember it. Also detective stories are not my jam so this was also probably not meant for me.

Loved it, a cosy crime thriller to curl up with!
I didn't realise it was part of a series, it works as a stand alone book.

What an absolute gripping, page turning, steam powered mystery(ies) this novel portrays. This so far is probably the best in the latest exploits of the railway detective and with an added bonus of introducing of new characters which are complex yet give added depth to the story. Just am soo amazed at Marston’s ability to capture the time and setting of Victorian Swindon and it’s railway connection a must have read for fans of Victorian murder mysteries and crime. Brilliant absolutely brilliant wish I could give 10 stars

have to admit that this was the weakest of all of the series I have read so far and didn't have the usual feel
