Set in historical Malaysia of the late 1800s, The Ghost Bride follows Li Lan, daughter of a bankrupt family with few marriage prospects until the prosperous Lim family approaches her about a ghost marriage. Their only son and heir mysteriously died, and they want Li Lan to be his bride. Although she rejects their offer, she is soon pulled into the world of ghosts and spirits, and must find the courage within herself to come back to the world of the living. Filled with romance, adventure, and magic realism, The Ghost Bride is a delightful and thrilling read. – Jennifer W.O.

I listened to this as an audiobook, and I think that the narration increased my enjoyment of the book. It's very different from other books I've read in setting and the culture of British Malaya. The language has a lyrical quality.

Really enjoyed this book! Also, I think it could translate into a pretty epic anime series... ;)
While reading this book, I happened to go to the Asian supermarket, and found some Hell banknotes! I never knew what those were meant for before reading this book. Pretty neat.
