As someone with limited knowledge of boats and harbours, I found all the detailed descriptions of those things pretty difficult to wade through. As well as all of the general geographic descriptions generally. There were so many, and I found a lot of them difficult to picture and therefore not super engaging.

The journey of the story feels quite standard. You certainly know where it's going. It has its disturbing elements, but I didn't find those off-putting.

I feel like I must be missing out on something, considering how well this is generally received, or maybe a lot of the reviewers just felt their angsty, nihilist selves reflected accurately
