Val may only be a middle schooler, but she has a past. Her mother, who seems to be the only caregiver, has had many jobs, which combined with Val’s habit of fighting, makes for many moves. When she arrives at yet another school, things seem to be going about as well as Val expected, terrible. Until she is asked to join the D&D group. 

The popular girl at school still picks on Val, but with her new friends, life seems manageable until the teacher sponsor tells the team he has to go. This means the wrestling coach will take over, and he will only cover if someone joins his team. Luckily, Val is up for the challenge. When Val and the popular girl finally get into a scrap surprising information comes out that will change the group forever.
