"If facts weren't funny or scary, or couldn't make you rich, the heck with them."
And I thought that Slaughterhouse Five was difficult to review...
This is about the third or fourth time I've opened up a text box to review this, but each time I've clicked the tab closed because Vonnegut's style is so unique, it's difficult to review and pinpoint.
I mean that in the best way possible of course.
His continual observations of society, race, money, and life in general are quite true and memorable... his books are worth rereading simply for the aphorisms that he writes.
Compared to Slaughterhouse, I wasn't nearly as captivated by this one, seeing as I wasn't as interested in the main character and his life, and the entire premise of the story was a bit odd and I never quite grasped it. However, it was still enjoyable, and a must read for Vonnegut fans.

Anti-war, or anti-glacier. KV gets us to laugh a bit.

Four stars for Vonnegut, five for anything else. Not his most compelling story, but his usual deep humor about man’s inhumanity to man and the planet.

I've liked every other Vonnegut book I've read, but this one just left me bored. I kept expecting it to get better, as his work sometimes starts off slow but builds up to something great. Hocus Pocus just didn't do that, which left me disappointed.

not quite as clever and compelling as cat's cradle, but a solid vonnegut.

I really enjoyed this one. KV has an amazing way of looking at so many different walks of life, telling each character’s stories and then elegantly bringing it back to the main focus. While the execution may have been patchy at times leading one theme into the next, it kept me on my toes the whole time. So many important topics explored in this book to make yourself do some reflecting such as war, relationships with people you love and barely know, social classes, prejudice, etc. not to mention it was filled with sarcasm. another great one by KV.

Typical Vonnegut book. Humorous, entertaining and completely nuts.

This book was a whole lot of everything, and a whole bunch of nothing.
