For the most part, I've enjoyed the Gin Blanco series, but this story wore very thin, very quickly. I realized a good way through the book that it was a bit of a rehashing of the Owen/Salina story, just with different characters. It did impart some new information about some of the major characters, but in longer running series, the author has to keep from letting things get too stale and this installment had things rather ho hum and same as previous stories. However, the book had a very interesting twist at the end which makes me refrain from abandoning the series completely.

Series: Elemental Assassin #14
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

Gin has to deal with a very difficult and unique enemy in this one, Finn’s long thought dead relative. Finn has been the most dependable person for Gin since she lost her family. He is her brother even if they are not related by blood, but this situation does shake up that relationship.

This one was very emotional for Gin and the gang. I liked that we are finally getting a story centered around Finn because he has been a main character throughout this series and it's about time. Finn’s actions are understandable in this book because at times I did get upset at his actions towards Jo-jo and Gin. I liked that he does admit his mistakes and learns from them though.

Gin was amazing as always in this book. I felt that she handled the situation with Finn’s relative, even if it didn’t work out like she planned. I was surprised by how much Gin used her stone and ice magic in this book. She seems to finally have embraced her magic and is using it in more unique ways now.

Overall, this was another great book for this series. Fourteen books in and it is still going strong. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next after the ending of this book.

I’m going to go about this review a little differently.  I figured I’d list my likes and dislikes.

Overall, I loved this book.  It felt like we were back to the nitty gritty feel of the first Elemental Assassin’s books.  I can’t wait for the next one!

Oh, this was a really fantastic sequel! Loved it so much, and it was hard to read about Deirdre, knowing that she was a bad guy, and yeah, the revelations about Gin's mom! I can't wait for the next book!

ARC from NetGalley!

Bitter Bite begins when someone from Finn's past comes back into their lives. This person claims to want to get to know Finn and be there for him, but Gin things they might be around for other ideas. When Finn starts to push Gin away it makes her more determined to try to protect him. But non of them would ever have guessed the plan they were twisted in.

Bitter Bite was a great addition to this series. I adored this book. I loved getting to see a softer side of Finn, and also how he treated Gin at times. Although, I thought he was kind of a jerk sometimes, I still really enjoyed watching them together. Especially in the end! Now, I'm even more excited to read more in this series. Jennifer Estep has done it again with this one. It had the perfect blend of Gin's awesomeness along with a great plot line!

I only have one question for this amazing author, Will Gin and Owen ever tie the knot?

I'm totally curious about that! I can't wait for the next book!

Once again another great read. I love that after Gin got her man the story is now about her taking down anybody coming after her and her people. I love the way that they left it open for more books, its become its own mystery series that I just can't get enough of. It's so sad how things had to go for Finn, but I really feel that it has brought him and Gin closer together.
