A really great book. Not much to talk about besides the few cons and all the great stuff in this book, so I'll try to keep this review brief. I'm going to list the main pros and the main cons (I would list all of them, except the list of pros would become its own book, and we're trying to keep it brief).
Okay, Pros:
Pro #1: A decent length book, with approx. 15 others to read, so you'll get the full immersive experience (very wordy, though, so be wary if that's not something you like).
Pro #2: Cool background and history in the book, with lots of story lines that could be told. I want to learn all about these long-gone heroes from the Age of Legends they talk about in the novels.
Pro #3: A nice cast of characters, something like 2782. Although, it does get a bit much to handle when you're trying to remember who's who. So here's a link to a compendium of the characters and their first and final descriptions: http://sites.ugcs.caltech.edu/~karlh/cgi-bin/wot.cgi (god bless the man who made this.)
Pro #4: The interesting Dragon Reborn concept. and an inventive take on magic with the

So I read this for the first time about 20 years ago because a friend of mine recommended it and i enjoyed it at the time but found it slow. Sinds then the series has come out which i like and another friend from a book club started the series because there is an audiobook narration by Rosamunde Pike one of the actors of the series.
Because that sounded very interesting to me I decided i would join het in revisiting this series. I read it with the audio and the e-book and I loved it. This time a lot of things made more sense to me. I also rewatched some of the episodes of the first season and find it interesting what the changed ore reworked.
The narration of these books by Rosamunde Pike are so great she is so good in buikding suspense and bringing this story to life. If you are a fan of the show i would highly recommend you try these audiobooks when you revisit the series.

The writing style is a little tough. There's a lot of repetitive description and dialogue. And the phrase "it was as if" was used so so so so many times. There are very many characters and only some are interesting. But the worldbuilding is absolutely amazing, as is the magic system. The stakes are so high you can't help but keep reading to know how it turns out. And if you can get through this one, the second one pays dividends, so I strongly recommend the series so far (two books in) but standalone, The Eye of the World is weaker.

Not a fan of this book. I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it. It was very dense, characters had very little growth, the plot felt like a LOTR rip off, very repetitive & predictable.
Only up from here on! Listened to the audiobook and its comfy so I'll continue the series, but this was definitely a bit of a mess. Just, extremely long too, and I'm confused and not entirely sure what's going on.
