Oathbringer does a lot to recontextualise Dalinar's worst elements and some of the things we hadn't seen before, but it gets bogged down by his backstory and at times feels like many of the same plot points are being repeated over and over again. There were some powerful moments, like
the reveal that Dalinar's uncontrolled anger, drinking and sorrow led to him burning his wife alive<\spoiler> and
Moash's true descent into villainy as he murders Elhokar before he can become a Radiant<\spoiler>, but the book also seems to go too easy on Dalinar for many of his crimes. A lot gets handwaved because the Bondsmith can't be evil, until the very end. Overall a good book and I really enjoyed seeing more of the magic and the lore and
the adventures in Shadesmar<\spoiler>, and some arcs were done fantastically, but it's definitely the weakest book so far.

I feel like if you are this far into this series then you are pretty much committed anyway but I love this book as much as the others. The first part (so technically part one) is a little slower but still enjoyable. Generally love this series and so excited to be able to pick up the others.
