This was ok. Good enough that I pre-ordered the second one.
There seemed to be some contradictory information and I'm not totally buying the fleshing out of the "world", but the heroine was not a too stupid to live moron and that can be really hard to find. My hope is the world building matures in the second book.

Carl is the alpha bear shifter, the Maximus. He needs to find a strong Maxima to help him keep his hold on the clan. Becca owns a bakery and the story starts with her being frantic because she hasn't heard from fifteen year old Theo. Carl runs a local summer camp that is actually a place for bear shifter children to meet each other. When a shifter hits puberty, they have their first change. During the change they instinctively head for the camp and the clan. Carl and Becca start talking when Carl stops in the bakery to find out how Theo's doing. Carl's been keeping an eye out for him because Carl knows that Theo's first change is coming. Unfortunately, it turns out that Theo and another boy have been kidnapped and possibly killed.
The writing is good and I liked that Becca calls 911 when she needs help. TSTL heroines drive me nuts. I liked this story, but it didn't quite have the depth I look for in a four star book. I also didn't care for the quick wrap up at the end.

Fun, fairly light read. Bonus points for being set in Michigan!
I’m going to keep this review short. This was my first book by Kathy Lyons, but it won’t be my last. I was super intrigued by the plot and by this whole community of bear shifters. I enjoyed the story and the characters for the most part. Although Becca had her moments where I wanted to thump her. The attraction between her and Carl was intense and I loved all their steamy AF scenes together.
I’m glad that so many books in this series are out now because I feel a binge coming on! The next book will be Mark’s book and I’m intrigued to see how they save him.

Awesome Paranormal Romance
This is book one in what seems to be a really great paranormal romance series. I really like Carl as a hot alpha trying to make his bear and man coexist. Becca is a sweet but strong heroine who turns out to be just what he needs. Intriguing action packed story with just enough heat, I loved this book.

My absolute favorite genre of romance is paranormal and I love everything from vampires and aliens to witches and shifters. It doesn't matter what it is as long as it's otherworldly - although, I will admit that shifters hold a special place in my heart whether they're a dragon, a wolf, or a bear. And after reading Ms. Lyons' The Bear Who Loved Me, I can tell you right now that I need to read more bear shifter books because this book was excellent!
Becca is a total ball-buster and sure, she has her moments where she panics and freaks out, but I think she's entitled to a few of those after discovering this other world, that her nephew is a part of it, and that she doesn't know where he is. Despite all of that, she's so strong and she's exactly like a Momma Bear - she'll do anything to keep her cub safe. Becca isn't afraid to stand up to anyone, she's fierce and fearless, but she's also gentle, sweet, and compassionate too. Becca's the best of both worlds really and I completely adored her!
And while there were a couple of times when I want to shake that grizzly bear, Carl, I completely loved him too! He's all possessive and growly and sexy and protective. He's smart and loyal and sweet and so hung up on Becca, he'll just melt your heart. I loved Carl and his vulnerabilities and insecurities when it came to how he felt about Becca and whether or not she would really love him back, but I don't think it was until he showed her his bear that I truly fell in love with him. Carl and his bear brought tears to my eyes and I just wanted to hold him and promise to love him forever. He stole my heart and I know he'll steal yours too!
The Bear Who Loved Me is a sexy, heart pounding read full of passion, action, heartache, and heart. It will make you laugh, frustrate you, make you shake your head, and melt you. It was amazing, I positively loved it, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
The Bear Who Loved Me is the first book in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series, it's told from Carl and Becca's POV, and they do get a happy ending!

The Bear Who Loved Me is book one in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series by Kathy Lyons. It’s full of action, suspense, mystery, and romance.
Becca is a human, a backer, a aunt and now mother to her sisters son. She is a strong women who has put everyone before herself. She does what needs to be done to take care of her family. I felt for her and all the struggles she went through; it made her that much more real. When she learns about shifters and her nephew, well she can’t quit believe. I liked how she digested the information thrown at her. She went through a few different reactions, but eventually took it all in. No hysterics!
Carl is a bear shifter, the Alpha to his clan, and protector. I liked him. He is trying to change how things are run and ruled. To think and not just kill. To balance both.
Becca and Carl I liked from the beginning. Their back and forth was playful and funny. When the situation calls for seriousness they are focused. The love is intense and sweet. I enjoyed learning about this world. I liked how man and bear are two separate entities yet living in the same body and so they must find balance. The secondary characters where also fun and just added to the story. We are taken on an adventure full of mystery, suspense, and romance.
The Bear Who Loved Me was one of those books that once you pick it up, you aren’t going to set it down. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

What happens when a human raises a young man who may or may not turn into a bear one day? You watch and wait and make sure he comes to you if he changes. That’s what the leader of the clan did and it should have worked. Except the kid gets kidnapped by crazies and even if she is human Becca Weitz is as tough as any mamma bear. How can the big buff and tough alpha bear not fall for her?
Yes it has been done before but engaging characters and sly humor make this book worth the read.

A good start on a series.
The characters were likeable and the plot rather good.
The one thing I didn't like was how there was no explanation to why Theo was targeted. And how a small group of fanatics was involved. Didn't make sense to me, but it might be revealed in coming books.
