Gave up on page 70 of 231. Forgot I was reading it. The whole teenage thing was just to weird. Really disappointed as I really enjoyed my first Colgan book.

yeah what the fuck idk lol
this book was... something (in a bad way)
ill just get the good things out first- it was funny and i like jenny colgan's style of writing (and i loved jenny colgans other books so my ratings a tiny bit biased).
now the other stuff
this was weird as FUCK and creepy as shit
genuinely, i was so weirded out.
flora, a 32 YEAR OLD WOMAN, has sex with a 16 YEAR OLD (?) ohh but its okay bc 'shes in a 16 year olds body too and has hormones and shit' SHUT THE FUCK UP
WHAT FLORA DID IS SO WEEIRD AND OVERLOOKED AND BRUSHED ASIDE AS A JOKE
IT IS NOT?? ITS SO WEIRD
also the book the US book title (the boy i loved before) does not make sense at all. it is NOT at all a romance story. the quote unquote 'romance' didnt even start until like the last ten pages (and i am NOT counting whatever the fuck she did with justin as 'romance' because it IS NOT.)
the US title is so misleading. the UK title makes a bit more sense. also, i dont like that some things were just.. brushed off
max?? what happened to stanzi?? what abt fallons arc?? i thought they were starting to become friends?? and i do not understand the time travel shit what
its funny and i like the writing and im biased- 3.25 stars. but the rest is weird and confusing and i dislike it.

Ist das erste Mal dass ich eine Zeitreise Geschichte gelesen habe wo nur eine Person in die Vergangenheit geht und nur ein Teil der Leute sie erkennt.
Interessante Auflösung, ging schnell zu hören

I read this as I heard Jenny Colgan speak at a book festival and really liked her. This isn't the normal kind if thing I read but I really enjoyed it! Interesting story line, compelled to keep reading until I found out what happened.

A good easy read. Storyline was good, a little unexpected at times.

I really thought I'd love this with it being a Jenny Colgan book but I just didn't. I thought it was just a bit too far fetched and offered no kind of explanation at the end.
Likeable characters but just a bit too unbelievable.

This is the first book I ever read by Colgan and it's one that I (obviously as it's the first time I have recorded it here) read through every time I need to fantasise about how much better my life could have/should have/would have been had I just done a few things differently.
I can't help but wonder if I would have changed things and how I would have changed things NOW if I were offered the same opportunities as Flora and I guess, in a way, that's what Do you Remember the First Time is all about. Would you sleep with that cute boy next door? Would you change your options to give yourself a better career opportunity in the future? Would you do everything you could in order to save a relationship (be it friend/parent/relative) that seemed as though it were a lost cause?
I think that it is this which has me coming back time and again to re-read this book; it doesn't answer the questions for me - because everyone has a different life and different experiences, BUT it does show you that not everything ends up smooth and rosy just because you are offered a second chance; mistakes are still made.

Time travel, the chance to do everything over? Who in their 30s (now 40s) wouldn't want the chance to actually do that, especially knowing everything that they know now?
This was the first book I ever read by Colgan when I was going through a "what should I read now that I have read all the Maeve Binchy and Marion Keyes in the local library." For some reason it was a free book on the front of a magazine (can't remember which one) and after I picked it up and read it I have to say that I was hooked. It not being the first book that Colgan had written it meant that I had a few months of "what book next" on the Colgan shelf in the local bookshop and library - and thus an addiction was born.
