Haig writes into words the despair of depression, followed by the persistence of hope, all with a main character whose wit and humor shows through even at her most despairing. In his philosophical approach to finding a will to live, Haig does not fall prey to the quick fix cure of "just try to be happy," but instead walks a delicate line of balancing situational depression and mindful changes in perspective.

I need my therapist to read this book. Immediately. This was such a wild ride! I feel… so many things. I’m rather speechless honestly.

Too straightforwardly corny for me and emotionally manipulative the way it
kills people off in the AUs via butterfly effect.

But the short chapters are like crack for my bad attention span brain, I'll give it that.

So incredibly relatable the way the author details the notion of regret and intertwined that with the idea of multiverses.  I also love that it was tied it to back to idea that "you are where you are meant to be". Sometimes story-telling can cause me to feel disconnected from the character but the way this story is told, its hard not to feel to Nora. You yearn for her to find a life she loves while also reflecting on tour own. The one thing I didn't enjoy was how easily brushed off her very much ongoing struggles with depression were towards the end. It seemed to imply that the author believed it could be cured or at least was cured for the character.

It took me a while to get into this book but once I did I couldn’t put it down. I found some of the language and dialogue quite… stiff - that really took me out of the story. I also felt like I was reading a self help book or being lectured at times which I didn’t love, that’s not to say the book didn’t have a good message - it just seemed a too obvious. Despite all that, I laughed and sobbed so Matt Haig clearly did something right!
