kar-a-bek-i-an, n. (from Rabo Karabekian, U.S. 20th cent. painter). Fiasco in which a person causes total destruction of own work and reputation through stupidity, carelessness or both. -270

Read it while hospitalized with stroke symptoms.

In pursuit of the soul, we must not neglect the meat; It has much to say.
Yes it does, it does, it does

Reads like a classic Vonnegut- short, steam of consciousness at parts. A great story with a great cast of characters. Was a very quick read but quite enjoyable.

4.5 stars. Of the now (I believe) seven Vonneguts I have read since the age of 21 (now 42), this has elbowed its way into my top three with Cat's and Sirens, which is refreshing given it's a "later" novel of his. Highly recommend. "So it goes."

This is one of my favorite Vonnegut books.  It's definitely underrated.

I'm a little let down by this one. It had all of the Vonnegut charm but none of his brilliant pacing. I didn't develop attachments to any of the characters, and I found myself skimming different sections just to get through. I enjoyed parts of the story, and the big reveal, but everything else dragged for me.

The book is brilliant, classic Vonnegut. Full of pathos, humor, and deep insight. And when you discover what he’s kept in the potato barn, you just might cry.
