I bit on the scary side but pictures are good. If your child is scared of cats, this might be a trigger.

This book was not quite what I was expecting and was probably as surprised as my daughter was when we read it. I found the story not quite flowing as I would have liked, and did have an abrupt ending as others have stated. That said, yes, some of the images were "gross" and "yucky" as my daughter put it, but they really are beautiful illustrations. It would be a wonderful book for around Halloween and I do plan on reading the other book by this author as I enjoyed this particular witch and the books look. "Cat's Fur" is also a simple way to teach about allergies. Would I recommend this for a child under 5? Probably not. I don't know how my younger child will feel about this one as even my 5 year old said the images were a bit scary in places. (Mommy liked them though) Also, as I said earlier, the flow of the story could have been better. I thought I had skipped a page in the middle, but it was that the transition threw me off, even though it was there. If you like darker illustrations, Halloween themes and witches, this is a nice choice.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for allowing me and my child this electronic version to read in exchange for my honest review.

This witchy themed Children's Book didn't impress me. A witch has a bunch of cats, but also allergies - a girl can relate! Haha! But the illustrations were sub par and the flow of the story was not artistically done. This would've been cuter had the story rhymed. The story also did not have a clear beginning, middle, and end and in a sense, left with a cliff hanger - what will this witch do now that she's realized she too has allergies to cats? Guys.... cliff hangers in children's picture books?! Let's not.

This book left me saying “what?”  If you read Lizard Brew by the same author then you already know the story.  Camilla is a witch and she has cats.  Her friend wants to come visit for Halloween but can't because of allergies.  That is where the story ends.  To start off with, the book was more representative of a picture book, and I quite enjoyed it even if it was repetitive to the sequel.  But it was less wordy and broke up better with it’s illustrations. But it ends in the middle of the story.  It ends by describing the friend's allergy problem.  In other words it doesn’t end.  It’s just all sorts of odd and the best thing is the illustrations which are gorgeous.
