narrative is everything! mommers provides frameworks to counter the prevailing narrative of inevitable doom regarding climate change (one i’m very familiar with) without understating its seriousness and the urgency to change our behaviors.

DNF at 28%. I didn’t really care for the tone or attitude of the book, it was slow and dry, and spent a weird amount of time talking about the covid pandemic. Granted, the book was published in late 2020, but the repeated mistakes about the rapidly-changing covid situation led to me not feeling very much trust in the book as a whole.

A masterful treatment of climate change: Mommers first breaks down all hope and optimism you may have in the status quo before building you back up and showing you that decisive and effective change is possible and that we can dream of a future with blue skies and breathable air. Highly recommend reading this book to get a comprehensive idea of both the ramifications of climate change and the options we have going forward.

Good review of the political discussion on climate change. Learnt a lot about some of the court cases against fossil fuels.
Not as good as an Uninhabitable Earth and very similar. Would recommend to people wanting to learn about the social and political aspects of the climate crisis, rather than the science.
