My almost-18-month old sat still through this whole book. It's such a sweet story and the illustrations are amazing. They are a little hard to see since they are in black and white, but that's my only complaint. I love the ending! My grandmother used to read it to me and gave me her copy in perfect condition to pass on to my son.

It's amazing how the images here convey just as much as, if not more than, the words. The characters are all wonderfully expressive, and Sendak's contribution transforms a simple book for helping young children learn to read into a humorous and sweet story that the adult readers can enjoy just as much as their audience.

Little Bear was a staple of my household for over a decade. Sadly now, my children are no longer interested in these books, but just looking at the cover reminds me of these great characters and stories.

This is by far my favorite book in the entire Little Bear series. From the inside joke of [b:Where the Wild Things Are|19543|Where the Wild Things Are|Maurice Sendak|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1384434560s/19543.jpg|3020535] art to the hen scolding the skunks for kissing too much while Little Bear looks on, the book was simply a delight. I enjoyed the skillful ink renderings, the (once again) creative use of a limited palette of spot colors, and the writing. [a: Else Holmelund Minarik|8722|Else Holmelund Minarik|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1201020692p2/8722.jpg] & [a: Maurice Sendak|4489|Maurice Sendak|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1201028880p2/4489.jpg] were at their best for their final bow. Even the stage call at the end of the book didn't feel overly sentimental like the previous book did. I just loved it and highly recommend the entire series.

My daughter actually read this one for read-aloud in the homeschool. A lovely book.
