This was very quick, cute, and cozy. Especially considering it’s a murder mystery. I definitely got some Desperate Housewives vibes while listening. Doreen is an interesting mix up silly/ditzy and highly observant with good critical thinking. She was fun to follow. I liked Mack as well. He’s very patient though maybe a little too patient with Doreen at times. They’ll be interesting to follow for the rest of the books. And of course I loved anything that has an animal sidekick, and we get THREE in this book!

Question to everyone : how many books do you read before you give up on a genre as a whole?
I think I may have hit my limit on cozy mysteries... I have to admit they are just not for me...

I was not a fan of the writing for this book. I kept reading to see who the culprit was but even the reveal for that was very anti-climactic. Unfortunately I will not be continuing this series, I wasn't very fond of seeing the same words five different times on the same page. But I must give credit for having a plot that still kept me reading.

Fun and quick read. The main character is endearing and the "romance" (not quite yet a romance to be exact) isn't central to the plot. Would recommend if you're looking for a cozy mystery but tend to get annoyed with how focused on romance they tend to be.
