The Patchwork Girl of Oz Illustrated by L. Frank Baum

These books are fun but are definitely pretty repetitive at this point. A few new characters, a journey where they meet all our old friends and then more adventuring which is wrapped up quickly and without a ton of real resolution. Not necessarily a bad thing, but definitely not my fave. I'm pretty sure the next book is about Tik Tok, which is good because I've been missing him in the last couple books!

I haven't been enjoying the Oz books much, but the Patchwork Girl is worth everything. She is so far my absolute favorite character, followed by Billina the chicken. She's just an excellent role model, defying everyone's expectations of how she'd feel about her looks, whether she'd be a moral person without any heart, everything.

Though I was a little angry at what happened to the Glass Cat at the end. Sure it was annoying to listen to her boast about her pretty pink brains (you can see 'em work! - not that they ever seemed to do anything) but that was no reason to take them away. D:

Though written due to financial desperation, the new characters, particularly the plucky Patchwork Girl herself, make this story a breath of fresh air in the long-running Oz series.

Перечитал свою рецензию на предыдущую книгу, [b:The Emerald City of Oz|179668|The Emerald City of Oz (Oz #6)|L.

За исключением вторжения плохих существ (в этот раз все хорошие и проблема, из-за которой начался весь сыр-бор, возникла по неосторожности) все справедливо и для [b:The Patchwork Girl of Oz|560637|The Patchwork Girl of Oz (Oz, #7)|L. Frank Baum|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1349732477s/560637.jpg|173557].

И еще непонятно почему книга называется [b:The Patchwork Girl of Oz|560637|The Patchwork Girl of Oz (Oz, #7)|L.

i had a really nice edition of this when i was a kid. it was one of the few books I owned actually. my brother and i were obsessed with Bungles, the glass cat to the extent that we named a cat after it.

Very enjoyable Oz story! This introduces several new characters, including Ojo the Unlucky and Scraps the Patchwork Girl, as the title implies. I also really liked the Glass Cat and wish she had kept her attitude to the end. The usual deus ex machina of Oz, Glinda, doesn't even show up in the book but still fulfills her role from afar--minorly irritating, but Baum's books follow a set pattern by this point, and if his young audience of the time loved it, he saw little reason to depart from it.

This was definitely my favorite of the Oz books so far. I really loved Scraps, she's such a weirdo
