I would actually have given this 3.5 if possible. Interesting concept & characters although it was a little more smutty than I'm used to. Will probably read the next one in the series when it's available.

I love Sarah Fine. I will read anything she writes! And I will have to write this review tomorrow, when I have more time :(

it was ok
I think this was a freebie, and for that price it was good. I think it's YA fiction, but if not it should be. Maybe. There are some descriptive sex scenes that would not be appropriate, but the writing is young and immature. Move read worse though. The plot and premise were interesting. I did want to see how the world she created worked, and how the characters worked into it.

Very meh. The plot is loose and there's a lot of instalove with clear sequel set ups. I thought the world building had potential but it never got filled in.

As advertised, this book is a fast-paced fantasy/mystery/romance that does a nice job blending genres. It's a popcorn book. I sped through it in a day, during work breaks and on the bus, curious about how it would turn out. At the same time, I wasn't so invested in the characters that I'm in a hurry to read the next book in the series. (The story is complete, but there are a few loose threads to be picked up in subsequent volumes.)
Two complaints kept me from rating this book higher.
1. I figured out who the guilty party was well before the end of the book. I understood why Cacy (the protagonist) did not catch on, but I was still disappointed that the writer wasn't more adroit.
2. The sex scenes between Cacy and Eli were completely out-of-synch with the tone of the rest of the book. I read erotica. I'm not offended by explicit sex. But in those scenes it turned into a completely different book. There could have been plenty of sizzle without going into long, explicit detail.
Still, overall it was a fun read.

I received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I liked the plot and some unexpected twist in it. Beautiful and complex characthers. This book is unique and not boring in the least. I recommend it.

Very readable
A well written bodice ripper isn't the easiest thing to find, especially from the Kindle marketplace. Marked is a quick easy read and a pleasant distraction. The characters and plot are perfectly entertaining though the novel follows all the standard romance conventions.

Great beginning
I enjoyed the world building in this one. There may have been a few address of too many feels but overall the story is solid with a good mystery.

Pulse-racing. Fast. Hot. Addicting. SUPERNATURAL.
I really had fun reading this one. Cacy Ferry is a paramedic and heiress of the Ferry family. Eli is the new transfer and her new partner. Their instant chemistry was smoking hot. The back and forth between these two led to an incredible build-up. They both have secrets and they'll work together to protect them. She's a ferryman that helps souls get to the afterlife and he's protecting his sister who could help save the world. The story was intense from beginning to end and the romance between these characters lit me on fire.

I regret taking so long to first get to this, and then to finish. It was so much fun. I enjoyed the lore of the Ferry's and Ker. Cacy was a fun, strong lead character. She was a paramedic and when her beloved father was killed, she was thrust into a role she never expected and didn't feel capable of. Eli was a good match with a dark past that did, in a strong way, catch up with him.
I only marked down a half a star because I guessed the "bad guy" early on. The story is far from over though and I know there's more to be found. Can't wait to get to Galena's story!
