I was kind of hating this until I got about 80% of the way through at which point I really started to like it, so, sometime that’s how it goes!

Woof, this one was a doozy. This kind of story is usually my bread and butter (messy lady hive, assemble!) but this was almost a bit much? Taddeo’s examination of gender and violence and family was sharp and honest. This story beautifully unfolded, but I kind of got lost in the grimness of it all, especially with the graphic description of the rape of a child and a miscarriage. Also, purely a me problem, but I get very irritated when authors don’t just use quotation marks, it makes dialogue muddled and it confuses me sometimes, okay!! Ultimately I really loved what Taddeo was doing here but I also don’t think I would recommend it for most people.
