This book starts amazing!
I love the main characters, and the background story.
But:
As I read further..
You know that feeling that something will happen, but it's taking so long before it actually does?
Well, this book is an extraordinary good example for that. I think I could've skipped half of the book and 1) still understand the story and 2) probably would've even enjoyed it more
But I also absolutely loved Nate, so I am planning on reading Enjoying the Chase (:

I loooooooved it. This novel is so good. From the very start to the very end, it keeps you entertained and interested. It's a romance novel, and seriously you'll want to fall in love after reading this one. The thing about it is that it conveys the message that you can never unlove someone even after that person passes away, but that doesn't mean that you should not fall in love again. And if you are once more feeling those butterflies fluttering in your stomach, the toe-curling sensations, then just go with the flow because you deserve it.

Holy shit what bad writing! Very amateur. I remember liking this story so I reread it just recently and I had to wonder how I ever endured reading the whole book! Ugh. AMATEUR.
And the plot? I'm not American and even I can say that her scenarios/situations are impossible. The holes in the logic are just too many, and just too big, I don't want to spent more time pointing them out one by one.

I kinda liked it, but also disliked it.
It all felt a little rushed to me, but still a cute, quick read.

I absolutely loved this book!! The characters were realistic and fun as well as the dialogue! I thought that the story was fun and entertaining for a New Adult novel, but there was also some action and drama that kept me interested and wanting to read more. This was one of the longer contemporary novels that I have read, and about halfway through, I did struggle with some repetitiveness in the storyline. Overall, I really enjoyed it and can't wait to check out the companion novel!

This happened to be free one day on Amazon and I snatched it right up. I enjoyed it. Here is a blur of what to expect:
"Annabelle Spencer's life is every girl's dream. She has wonderful parents, great friends, and of course the perfect boyfriend, Jack Roberts. That all changes on her sixteenth birthday when her life comes crashing down around her. Her dream night turns into a nightmare when Jack is murdered right in front of her, and she’s kidnapped by his murderer, Carter Thomas, a big time drug and arms dealer.
After ten months of being with Carter, she’s found, but the experience has totally changed her. She’s no longer the happy-go-lucky girl that everyone used to know and love; she’s now cold, hard and suffers from night terrors. It appears that Carter broke not only her body, but her spirit too. A shadow of her former self, her slogan for life is now: ‘If you don’t care about anything, then you have nothing to lose’.
Carter is currently serving time for the murder of Jack, a conviction that Anna helped secure. But his retrial is coming up because some key evidence appears to have been tampered with. Unbeknown to Anna, death threats are being received by her father, the Senator. It appears that Carter is still interested in Anna and will stop at nothing to get her back.
Ashton Taylor is brought in to protect her. He’s a newly qualified SWAT agent, a bright spark, the agency’s new golden boy. He is assigned undercover, posing as her boyfriend. His job is to help her through college and keep her safe until the end of the trial in eight months’ time.
For three years she has been the broken, damaged girl, refusing to feel emotion or pain, but can Ashton help her rebuild her life and finally deal with the grief of losing her childhood sweetheart? Will he be the one to make her see that life is, in fact, worth living and that not all men will hurt her?
All the while, the shadow of the trial looms over the both of them, taunting them, reminding them that it isn’t over yet. After all, Carter Thomas will stop at nothing to be reunited with his ‘Princess’
Overall the author did a fabulous job bringing the characters to life. And even though I am pretty sure that Ashton's role (profession) wasn't really portrayed accurately, I still enjoyed the book. Sometimes the little details are minor and can be over looked. The fact that Ashton wouldn't have gotten the job as a bodygaurd in the real world really doesn't matter to me, but I can see how those readers that are familiar with SWAT would be turned off by the lack of accuracy written about his job.
The author really took her time developing Anna. There wasn't a ton of growth on Asthon's side but either way I enjoyed them together a lot. The chemistry and intimate scenes were incredibly hot and let me panting. I loved the time line and the flow of the book. At times it went slower than I wanted, but it made the situation and story seem real.

I've so far liked A LOT if not loved Moseley's books, but there was just something about this that just...irritated me. I enjoyed the plot: broken girl trying to find her way; protective guy who is hired to protect her but falls in love with her; girl hiding from her scary past...etc.
I enjoyed reading Anna's process of healing and I liked the fact that it didn't happen over night, this made her healing process more believable and REAL.
I also loved having a sweet guy for a change. I don't know what it is about this new obsession with bad boys/guys, but I loved that Ashton was actually a sweetheart and he was the one who fell in love with her and wasn't ashamed about it. He didn't hide from his feelings - even though his past and childhood isn't exactly peachy. But then again, Moseley seems to have a soft spot for the sweet guys.
One of the major things that irritated me was Anna's playing games with Ashton. A lot of the time I felt like she didn't even know what she was doing and didn't consider Ashton's feelings in the whole situation. She took what she wanted and decided when it should end - and Ashton being Ashton, he didn't really do anything and gave her the space and time she wanted. It's not so much that I hate that she was indecisive, it's that from where I was standing, Anna was looking for instant gratification and be damned with the other person included in the equation.
Maybe I'm being harsh, considering what she'd been through, but I felt her push 'n' pull filled out most of the book and I found myself skipping scenes/pages/chapters because it was the same thing over and over again.
Anyway, definitely not my favorite Moseley book, but it was alright.
