It took me approximately ten pages to fall completely in love with this book, the prose is gorgeous and as is Macmanus’ understanding of human emotion. I found myself completely invested in Mary’s life and yearning for someone to give her a hug.

Didn't really get on with the writing style, it was a bit too simple for me. But there were some really important themes such as addiction, grief and consent. There were some parts of the book where I thought 'wow I didn't know someone else felt like that' but all in all I will probably have forgotten it by next year.
