A fantasy series that centers compassion and curiosity — exactly what I didn’t know I desperately needed.

Huge, rambling, digressive, jam-packed with flashbacks from myth and (invented) history -- all the things fans of wuxia-style epics adore. All I can say is I'm glad the final volume will be out soon (June 2022)!

The interminable restaurant competition almost made me DNF the series after committing nearly 3000 pages, but I ended up skipping through chapters to get back to the actual story. I'm just barely interested enough to finish the last book. This book could have easily chopped out 300-400 pages and made it far more engaging.
