Rimbaud est suffisamment un génie, je ne sais pas ce que je suis censé dire d'autre au sujet de ces écrits!

Illuminatiions is the first Rimbaud's poetry collection I've ever read and I am very impressed by his writing, even though the kind of themes he wrote about aren't my favorite to see in poetry and not that close to my heart. His writing skill can't be disputed, though!

I wanted to both like and be impressed by these poems. I was, sadly neither.

Interesting imagery and great use of language, but didn't grasp me as much as I expected. Maybe I'm more suited to his fiction than his poetry, because the 'storier' poems were the ones I liked best.

I'm hoping this got lost in translation... Everything felt like it was missing context, nothing really made sense. Which I could excuse if the prose was stunning, but, it's not. There were four selections in the whole thing that I thought were okay. Heard other translations are much better but I am so disappointed in this one :(
