A baby is born, a foe is fought, politics are waged. Good story and art as usual for this title.

I haven't read anything in this series for quite awhile, but I really liked this one. This is a fun graphic novel series for fairy tale lovers.

A little choppy and not quite up to the standard of most Fables collections, but still quite good.

Bill Willingham outdid himself with Rose Red. The story was classic but exciting, with the inevitable cliffhanger. The art was well above average-perhaps my favorite for all the Fables books. Both the covers and the comic art. As usual, I can't wait for the next installment.

Really nicely set up for the next book, and although I saw the twist coming, it did not unfold in the most stereotypical way. Great artwork throughout as well.

Overall I still love this series and think it's fantastic. But it does have some minor things that drag it down on occasion.

For example, the treatment of Mrs Spratt. I get what the story is going for but at the end of the day I find no entertainment in reading Snow White brag about how pretty she is and how ugly Mrs Spratt is. And I again, I get what Snow was saying - you can't be ugly inside and outside. But then you have Mr Dark come along and call her beautiful as she is and I end up thinking Mr Dark is a better being than Snow White... And I should not be feeling that way because one is supposed to be our heroine and the other is the literal emobiment of all things evil.

Another minor issue I had was Bellflower (or whatever name you want to use for her) was such an interesting character and to be frank, I despise that her send off was literally "I finally found a good man". It might have been nice if it had been developed over a couple volumes but she basically met him, spoke about Mr Dark and then declared to be madly in love with him. Her decision to "retire" just felt so rushed and half-assed, as if they wanted her character gone and could think of no better way to do it. It was just a great disappointment for what was a really cool character so far.

Other than that I still enjoyed everything else. The fight scenes were creative and fun and intense, the sweeter scenes between characters like Beauty and Beast were lovely and the art work is still some of my favourite in any comic series. And more than anything else, I always look forward with what is to come next!

Solid collection. Mostly back story on Snow White and Rose Red - how Snow ended up with Prince Charming and where their bitter rivalry stemmed from (no pun intended). This telling of Snow White's fable was more in the tradition of Grimm rather than Disney. And I must say, I like my fairy tales with a little spit and vinegar to them.

Also - loved the show-down between Bellflower and Mister Dark. The concept of building the box around him, rather than luring him into the box, was elegant and clever. I'll say no more.

New threads emerging with Beauty, Beast, and baby; Mrs. Spratt; and a return of long forgotten toys to Gepetto (prose story at the end of the book - read it).

I liked this one more than other ones! I liked the extended story of Snow White & Rose Red. I liked the duel between Bellflower and Mr. Dark. I disliked all the stupid filler at the end.

Finally we get to the bottom of the rift between Snow White and Rose Red and we get to see some much needed character development of the latter of the two famous sisters. However, I feel like Snow and Rose both have been kind of pushed aside throughout the series. It seemed as if once Snow became a wife and mother her character kind of stalled and has just been languishing there. As for Rose-clearly the only way one can portray complexities in a female character is to give her relationship and commitment issues. They started off so well especially with the second volume "Animal Farm". I can only hope this will be remedied in later volumes given that there's also an entire volume devoted to Snow White.
