★- 5 stars | "And the cruelest is love. Long after death, love has the power to turn us all into the darkest of monsters."

this was one of the most hauntingly beautiful books i've ever read. nicole fiorina did it again! to say i'm obsessed would be an understatement; this story consumed me in so many ways.

this book was haunting and dark with wonderful witchy vibes. witches, ghosts, a spooky town, gothic atmosphere, and an all consuming love story- it has everything i love! this is what i mean when i say i want to live in a small town: a seaside gothic and spooky town that gives halloween vibes all year long. this eerie story was brought to life by the author's amazing writing. the story is beautifully written and pulled me in from the start, i couldn't take my eyes off the pages. the writing was so vivid that reading this book felt like entering a gothic fairytale, where romance, magic, and mystery all come together. nicole fiorina's writing never disappoints.

this is such a beautiful story of love and sacrifice that broke my heart and then put it back together. i was deeply moved by the forbidden romance and the angst. i adored every moment of fallon and julian's beautiful and heartbreaking love story. oh, to be loved the way they love one another.

julian, who plays the villain to save his loved ones, is the epitome of a tortured and troubled soul. he put fallon first, above everything and everyone else, and did everything for her. no one in this town deserves him (with the exception of fallon), not even his mother or his so-called brothers. my heart broke for him so many times that i lost count.

Absolutely loved this book. Loved the characters. Loved the suspense and mystery of it all. But what the FUCK was that ending? Starting the second book immediately bc I pray that was setting up for the next installment. Bc otherwise, what the fuck…

this had some elements that kept me intrigued and others that made me scratch my head. i never really understood the division of magic and the need for masks but i liked the dark academia vibes
