The story development was exceptional except how female was used as a crutch to push the story forward. Plot points were weaved with intricate detail which makes the usage of a win button frustrating. That was fun that was a lot of funThe story veered from romance novel to revenge tale.

It has a nice premise, but I wish we had gotten a deeper journey into the characters. Both of the main characters could be the one to root for, but the book fell short of making me care about them. I wish it would have gone deeper into the "rights of the one vs the many" idea and about the effects of war and how good people can have good reasons to make bad decisions.
In the end an okay read, but a little predictable.

Started a bit slow, but grew wonderfully. Excellent characters and perfect pacing towards the end. Loved it, would read again. Ken Follett doesn't disappoint.

Dreadful book. Full of short sentences, bad sex scenes and really quite awful.

Chose this as a fever-read. It was entertaining enough. But the major plot points could be guessed so early on!

I'm really started to believe that Ken Follett is incapable of anything other then a great book.
