This book is one of my favorites largely because of being adopted. I relate a lot to Shasta’s story.

2.5 stars. This was... a lot. Plenty has been said about the blatant xenophobia in this story and none of it was exaggerated. But I also didn't like the story structurally. We keep jumping back and forth in narratives and it never feels organic. This story also doesn't really seem to further the Narnia narrative in a conclusive way, I'm overall just not sure what the point was (except for giving a voice to xenophobia...).

A terrific adventure book. I think of all the Narnia books my favorites are this one, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Prince Caspian. But I have yet to read The Last Battle.... :)
