It screams "I'm written by a British Imperialist." Lots of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe books give that vibe because the author obviously was from that era, but this is particularly bad. The plot needs to be a little stronger and/or less focused on the lesser "other" people vs the British... *cough* I mean Narnians..

I enjoyed the adventure aspects of this book, in a lot of ways it reminded me of Diana Wynne Jones and the sequels in the Howls Moving Castle trilogy, but the racism… it’s not for me.

a true diamond in the rough kind of story

when humility and bravery come together in one character. I liked Shasta the most in this story.

I also love the return of the Pevensley siblings but as the kings and queens in action.
