Awesome read....love books where people are constantly being chased, and this one was a real nail biter. Great characters, plot, and setting

I wanted something light and this fits the bill in that way. It did seem that there was very little in which the dog was involved. The woman protagonist seemed to be front and center as a superhero.

This story was sketched with very broad strokes. It was hard for me to suspend my disbelief, and I didn't feel suspense despite the armed gunmen and chases through the wilderness. I also never connected with the characters. That said, this was probably a fun, fluffy novel to consume as book snack the main characters mention praying and thanking God a few times each, which may or may not appeal to the reader.

Exciting, but pretty melodramatic. Leads to plenty of eye rolling.

Mountain Survival was another exciting, suspense-filled mystery from Christy Barritt. As I've come to expect from Barritt, it's fast-paced with the characters in an almost constant state of danger. Almost every chapter ended with a nail-biter of a situation, making me race through the pages as fast as I could.

My favorite character was search and rescue dog, Sherlock. He was loyal, brave, and hardworking. A scene-stealer, for sure! I didn't feel much of a connection with the human characters, though. Their romance developed a little too fast for my liking, but I guess that's to be expected in this type of book.

Although this wasn't my favorite book from Barritt, it was still an enjoyable and compelling read.

I received a copy of this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

Mountain Survival is the perfect read for the suspense loving dog lover. It is book 3 in the K-9 Search and Rescue series, but as this series is really just a collection of books from various authors featuring search and rescue dogs, they can all be read as standalones.

In this story, we meet park ranger Autumn as she's out with her dog Sherlock where they come across Derek, out looking for help for his brother who'd broken his leg as they were out camping. When they set out to help, it seems that they aren't the only ones in the woods and there is much more danger at hand than a broken leg. The action kicks off right from the very beginning and doesn't let off right through the end, making this a fast paced read perfect for anyone who loves action and doesn't have a ton of time for reading. In some ways it did feel like perhaps the romance was a bit rushed and I found myself wishing that there was more time to really see the romance developing more, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I think pet people will especially enjoy the relationship between Autumn and Sherlock even more!

Overall, this was an fun read that fans of romantic suspense will enjoy!

**I received a complimentary copy of this book for consideration. All thoughts are my own.
