More drama than necessary
(Spoilers ahead)
I didn’t necessarily love the first book in this series but I liked it enough to want to see how Charlie and Lex’s story ended up. Honestly this book frustrated me because they have this fairytale life before you ever get to the 50% mark- so by that point of course I’m wondering what could possibly happen.
(More spoilers, you’ve been warned)
After Elijah’s death life falls apart for Charlie and Lex and honestly I really don’t like him anymore. Things get hard so he pushes her away? Like buddy you’ve already been given more forgiveness than one person should have in a lifetime so why push your luck? Aaaaand that mess with his new assistant? Regardless of whether or not he did anything “wrong” he definitely didn’t do anything right.
I also feel like there should be a heavy TW for borderline SA. Unless somno has been explicitly discussed and approved then Lex had no right to touch Charlie while she slept. Also big OW drama that was sleazy and unnecessary in my opinion.
3 starts for an ultimate HEA, good spice, and an enjoyable first half of the book. I may come back to finish the series later but I don’t feel that pressing urge to find out what happens to the rest of the family right now.

This book fell really flat with me. I like the first one okay and was curious to see where this one was going to go.
I HATE this miscommunication trope and that was major in this book. The random POV of Eric for a chapter was a little weird. And the book got a little preachy at the end? I found it weird that both our main characters were praying to and thanking God. Didn’t feel genuine to the characters in the first book.
I will not be continuing the series.

It was more of what a marriage goes thru. It wasn't bad but it wasn't a great read either. If you want to know what happens between them i would say go ahead and read the author really does go into what life throws at you and how a marriage can handle it.

Too much timeline swapping. The storyline just wasn’t there for me, an affair, plus it’s just a bunch of fighting and cheating between people. I’d get it if it were one book but it’s over the span of a second book now.
