Если вы уже читали что-то у Фоли, то откровения не ждите. Любопытная на первый взгляд история быстро скатывается в ужас ужасный. То есть Люси Фоли стабильна.
Ну и главная героиня. Боже мой, какая тупая барышня…

Three stars is probably a stretch for this one. I found this frustrating, with 2D characters that I had little to no investment in and more emphasis on red herrings and twists than the quality of writing and the characters themselves. It felt vapid and undeveloped and not in a “switch off your brain” easy read kind of way, in an unsatisfying way. In fairness, loads of twists I didn’t see coming and I did want to see how it all panned out but felt non-plussed at the end. This one was not it for me.

Lucy Foley’s best book I have read so far. I definitely liked this more than The Guest List and The Hunting Party, but because I have read the other two it didn’t pack as much of a punch since I knew more or less what to expect. I enjoyed the characters, the story and the twists and if I had it first I would have given it way more stars.

This is a book that became less interesting the more I read. The characters are not nuanced at all. Everything related back to power and sex. However, the “twist” at the end was a bit of sweet justice. I’m sure I’ll forget all about this book in a year.
