**BOOK CLUB ROUND 16**

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader hit theaters in December and I wanted to get Laura caught up on the other movies so I could go see it. The problem with that was that I refused to let her watched The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe without first reading the book because I felt that my familiarity with the book was actually the reason I loved that first movie so much. It’s a great mythos written from the perspective of a grown-up telling a child a story which makes it super easy to follow with our read-it-out-loud strategy. She’s now caught up on the first two movies, but we still haven’t managed to catch Dawn Treader in theaters yet. Hopefully we will before it’s too late so we don’t have to wait for home video.

Loved this book and the movie since the moment I first saw and read it. I first read it when I was quite young, and in Dutch, so I barely remembered anything. Reread it now and in English, loved it! If I had more time, I wouldve finished it sooner.

A re-read for Miranda Mills Comfort Book Club. While still a sweet story, the sexist behaviors get worse every time I read…

I was obsessed with this book when I was a kid, and I don’t know how many times I read it and the rest of the series, but it was a lot! Having just finished reading this book with a student, I am seriously questioning that obsession. I think the kid me loves the idea of finding a magical world full of talking animals (!!), but the adult me has a hard time with the writing, development, and overall meh. I am surprised, and a little sad.

My student wants to read the whole series together, so we’ll see if that does anything for me.
