Personally, I did not love this story. However, I appreciate what this story represents. I read this story for one of my class assignments. I think that this story allows for great discussions and reflections on society. Its not one of my favorites but I would still recommend this to others.

I loved a lot of the stories, but there were a couple that felt a little too unfocused and opaque. That said, it's an amazing collection and one I'll probably turn to often for inspiration.

“During the day Ennis looked across a great gulf and sometimes saw Jack, a small dot moving across a high meadow as an insect moved across a tablecloth; Jack, in his dark camp, saw Ennis as a night fire, a red spark on the huge black mass of mountain.”

Short (at 55 pages) but packs a punch. Human desire spans gender, boundary and time and is told beautifully in this short story. Even if you’ve seen the movie, take an hour to read this through. Beautifully written and worth the time!

The highlight of this text is the way in which the perception of nature and environment are impacted and become enriched by heightened emotions.

The movie based on this book that I watched is absolutely going to stick with me for a long time. Watching it made me want to also read the story. Oh well. Maybe I just got a really poorly re-written or copied, or whatever they did to the original one, version, and since my library doesn’t offer this book, neither will I buy it, I downloaded a random pdf. But this pdf had so many fking grammar mistakes and the text was just so… illogical so it felt like I was reading a… I don’t even know what.
I’ll just rate this book as I would rate the movie.
-1 star for the sex scenes because ew. (Yes, I dare to because who starts their bond with sex, c’mon, why, peopleeee.)
