I’m conflicted with this one because the main character deals a lot with not being someone’s first choice especially when it comes to parental figures in their lives, and that might be a trigger for someone reading this book. That being said the main relationship between the two characters is great. They are kind of obsessed with each other from the beginning. Their banter is a lot of fun, and I think it’s one of the strengths of this book. They’ve known each other for a really long time and because of it I feel like there’s an implied intimacy in the relationship that you get to see pretty quickly so it is not slow burn.

The main conflict feels a little contrived there’s a big moment of deception that happens that felt forced, and well I did find that annoying I don’t think it was enough to deter me from reading the next book in the series.
