For her first book in historical romance Kristine Raymond did a fabulous job. The characters are strong, the story line progressive, and the knowledge of horses very well written. I loved the romance that built between Sam and Kate...even though there were some places I questioned because it just didn't seem to fit with reality, all in all I really did like this story. I'm anxious to read the subsequent books in this series! I recommend this read.

A darling little western romance packed with interesting characters. Kate Ryan owns a ranch in Hidden Springs and hires Sam Mackenzie (along with a few others) to help her fence her property. From the get-go, sparks fly between Kate and Sam, but Kate has a dark secret that prevents her from fully opening herself to love.

Some of the language and characterization seems a bit too modern for the time period, and I was disappointed that we didn't get to see Kate's growth after her crisis onstage. All in all, though, the romance itself shines through the flaws. And I'll be eager to see what happens with some of the other characters in Hidden Springs.

While this book started off a bit slow for me, I quickly found myself wrapped up in the town and characters. I enjoy historical romances because I enjoy how people lived long before the technical advances we have today. With this one I learned more about how people lived in the wild west. I really enjoyed the horse round-up.

I can't wait to continue the series and see how some of the other characters I met find their one true love.
